TISHA B'AV PROGRAM
Raid on Entebbe (FILM)
The world held its breath...
The Holy Temple both the first and the second were destroyed on the saddest day of the Jewish calendar, Tisha B’Av (Av 9). As Jews we spend this day in sadness and mourning by refraining from eating and drinking, bathing etc. However, it is a day that is still filled with hope and prayer that we will once-and-for-all be redeemed from this dark exile, with the coming of Moshiach.
The film ‘Raid on Entebbe,’ is a fascinating story where G‑d’s hand saved us once again and reminds us that even in the most challenging times, He is watching and caring for us.
There isn’t a scriptwriter alive who could have invented a more exciting story. It was in June 1976 that an Air France plane carrying 244 passengers plus crew, was hijacked by Palestinian terrorists. The Jewish passengers were held hostage and threatened with death if the Israeli government did not comply with their captor’s demand, to release 53 Palestinian so-called “freedom fighters” held in Israeli prisons.
